What this site is for

Electrical work is bought badly for a structural reason: the homeowner cannot assess the product. You cannot see the wiring, you cannot judge whether a quote is complete, and the failure modes are concealed and occasionally lethal. Most of the information available online is written by people selling the work, which makes the one question you actually have — is this scope right and is this price reasonable — the hardest one to answer.

HyreElectrical exists to close that gap on the information side. We read the model code section, the federal safety report, the municipal fee sheet and the filed utility tariff ourselves, and we publish what they say with the document and the date we retrieved it attached. Where a figure cannot be traced to a primary source, we publish the shorter page and say what we could not verify.

What we do not do

• We do not perform electrical work. No employees of this company install, repair, inspect, supervise or warrant anything electrical. We do not pull permits, schedule inspections or issue certificates.
• We do not dispatch anyone. There is no 24-hour line and no emergency service. An enquiry submitted here is not a service call and will not bring anyone to your house.
• We do not rank electricians. There is no "best electricians" list on this site and there will not be one, because we hold no basis for it that would survive scrutiny.
• We take no payment for placement. Nobody buys a position, a ranking or a favourable mention here.
• We publish no national average prices. Labour rates, the adopted code edition, utility involvement and the state of the existing wiring move an electrical invoice too far for an average to inform anything.

Who writes it

Everything here is published under the HyreElectrical Research Desk. That is an organisational byline, and it is deliberate. This site carries no authored personas, no invented credentials, no fabricated project counts and no claimed years in the trade. Attributing original research to a fictional expert is the first thing a careful reader checks, and we would rather have a byline that is plainly a desk than one that is plainly a fiction.

Where expert judgement appears, it is sourced externally to named, verifiable people and organisations. Where an interpretation is ours, it is labelled as our analysis rather than presented as something a source stated. What we have actually built

Two research assets sit behind the guidance on this site, and they are different things with different scopes. Confusing them would let us make claims we cannot support, so we keep them separate and say which is which.

• A licensing authority review covering all 51 US jurisdictions. The official electrical licensing body for every state and the District of Columbia, with the public government search where one exists and the board’s own page where it does not. No aggregator or lookup-reseller sites are used. This is national in scope, and it powers our licence lookup.
• A contractor store of 16,369 electrical companies across 5 states — Florida 12,114, Utah 1,489, Nevada 1,066, California 903, Texas 839 — counted on 5 September 2026. 74% of it is Florida, and we say so first rather than in a footnote. It is a research sample for five states: not a national census of electricians, not a ranking, not an availability list, and not a recommendation of any firm in it. No national claim on this site rests on it.

Matching, and why we keep saying it is not finished

The intention is to connect homeowners with local licensed electricians and to earn a fee for doing it. That is not operational. You can tell us about a project and we will follow up about connecting you with relevant local professionals, but nothing is sent to a company unless you agree, and submitting the form does not put anyone on the road.

We repeat that on every page that could be misread as a dispatch service, because the alternative — letting somebody with a burning smell in the wall wait on a web form — is not a trade-off we are willing to make. If you have an active electrical emergency, the guidance on who to call is more useful to you than this company is.

How we expect to make money, stated plainly

A site that will not say how it is paid has told you something. Ours intends to be paid for introductions to electrical professionals once that service works. We do not take money to rank, list, recommend or praise anyone, and we do not accept payment to remove or soften a finding. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed on this page and in the editorial policy before it changes, not after.

Corrections

We publish corrections in place, on the page that was wrong, with what changed and when. Several pages on this site carry visible correction notes and records of sources we tried and failed to retrieve — including a state-by-state code adoption table we could not verify and therefore do not publish. Those are not embarrassments to be tidied away; they are the evidence that the rest of the sourcing is real.
